The strategies on this page are strategies for you to use after you read the text to help you organize your thoughts and help you retain as much information as possible so that you can use it and apply it later.

After you read, summarize the chapter, section, or article you just read. Make sure you summarize it in your own words because this will help you remember it better as well as making sure you aren't guilty of plagiarizing. If you need help or need tips, click on the section header above.

After you read, reflect on the material. Think about what you just read. Ask why it was important. Think about why I made you read it. Review any notes you took while you were reading. Think about the main points. For addtional help or things to think about, click on the section header above.
